Pinole Creek Allies took a break from picking up trash this month and instead addressed invasive plants along a short stretch of Pinole Creek, from Tennent Ave to just downstream of the Pedestrian Bridge. Over 40 volunteers gathered to cut down and treat a patch of arundo, an aggressive invasive; pulled out acacia tree sprouts and saplings; and made a dent in English Ivy and Himalayan blackberry patches.
Americorps Watershed Steward Emilisa Chea took leadership of the event which was a great success. We'll have to keep on top of it now, so we don't lose ground. Look for more opportunities in the future!
Join us for a day of Invasive Plant Removal at Pinole Creek! Help us protect the local ecosystem by removing harmful plants like Arundo, Ivy, and Acacia sprouts from the area. This hands-on event will take place at the Pedestrian Bridge over Pinole Creek on Pinole Valley Rd near Brandt Ct, where we will work together to make a positive impact on the environment. No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get your hands dirty! Don't miss this opportunity to connect with nature and contribute to the community. See you there!
