Contra Costa Fish Migration Day was a great success! The event began with a moving land acknowledgement from Gabriel Duncan of the Alameda Native History Project. Ann and Carol of FOPCW gave great speeches and did a fantastic job of honoring EBMUD biologist and FOPCW Board of Directors (BOD) member Bert Mulchaey with a beautiful Japanese-style fish print. Thanks to fellow FOPCW BOD member Bill Voigt for the beautiful artwork! We also heard rousing speeches from County Supervisor John Gioia and Pinole City Council members Norma Martinez-Rubin and Devin T. Murphy. Folks enjoyed live music from Scotty O'Neill of the New Frantics, fun booths and activities from a number of local public agencies and nonprofits, and fascinating tours of the Fish Passage, led by Bert! Thanks to everyone who came out for the event! We hope to see you all again at a future Fish Migration Day celebration!
