The November Creek Cleanup was amazing. A hardy group of 17 volunteers showed up behind Sprouts to remove trash from the creek, the trails, and one group even tackled a tributary between the Kaiser building and the Optometry building on Pinole Valley Road. A total of 215 gallons and 214 pounds of trash and recycling were removed. It continues to be inspiring to watch Pinole Creek Allies dig in and do their best to honor the Creek. Well done! Thank you to each and every person who showed up to clean up trash from our beloved Pinole Creek. The previous rains washed a lot of trash into the streambed. The sense of satisfaction in removing it was pretty awesome.
(note that we collected a lot of styrofoam bits, in addition to the typical fast-food wrappers...)
Join us for our monthly trash cleanup! We will meet at 10 am on the creek trail behind Sprouts on Pinole Valley Road. Learn about an opportunity to help implement Pinole's new Plastics Reduction ordinance. Volunteers will be able to earn $50-100 cash cards! FOPCW's 2021 trash assessment launched the ordinance, so having the chance to encourage businesses to comply is a true win!
