The next time you drive past Pinole Valley Community Church on Pinole Valley Road, think of all of the butterflies, moths, bees, birds, and other wildlife that will soon benefit from the new stop we're creating in the Pinole Pollinator Pathway. Thanks to a lawn conversion rebate that the Pinole Garden Club received from EBMUD, a large strip of lawn at the Church will soon be a native plant garden, another nutrition and habitat stop for pollinators on the move. Volunteers from the Church, the Pinole Garden Club, and the Friends of Pinole Creek Watershed will soon finish sheet mulching the site, and will be planting "pollinator foodstuffs" later in the fall, just in time for the winter rains.
