The City of Pinole Coastal Cleanup was a raging success! More than 150 volunteers worked like crazy to clear trash out of Pinole Creek and the Shoreline, motivated by a contest with the City Manager. Next year, we will include a microtrash component to honor those who focused on the cigarette butts and small plastics which are even more pernicious than the big items! Volunteers removed more than 1,070 pounds/552 gallons of trash including tires, doors, wood, construction trash, and a basketball backboard. Thank you to City staff, volunteers, and those who helped record all the trash - you are INSPIRING!!
Join FOPCW and the City of Pinole for the Annual Coastal Cleanup Event staged at Bayfront Park on Saturday Sept. 20, 8:30 - 12 noon. City Manager Kelcey Young has thrown down the gauntlet again this year and is taking on all comers in a competition for how much trash you collect! If you beat her, you win a prize!
